Northern Kentucky Convention & Visitors Bureau Names New President/CEO
Interim CEO Eric Summe is Named to Lead Bureau
Covington, KY/December 13, 2010 – After serving as Interim CEO for just over three months, the Northern Kentucky CVB Board has named Eric Summe to lead the Bureau in a permanent capacity. A Northern Kentucky native and former Delta Airlines executive, Summe brings knowledge of the region and a collaborative approach to the CVB.
"We performed a thorough, national search, and in doing so, we determined Eric to be the best person for the job" said John Ellison, chairman of the NKYCVB board. "We have been very impressed with the job that Eric has done as interim CEO and have confidence that he can lead our organization, helping us achieve our goals."
A graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Communications, Summe spent 27 years with Delta Airlines in several key roles prior to retiring in 2005. Since his retirement, he has worked at Fifth Third Bank in Northern Kentucky and as a business consultant. Throughout his career, most of it spent in northern Kentucky, he served in varying capacities on a number of local boards, including 10 years on the board of the Northern Kentucky Convention & Visitors Bureau.
"I am thrilled to have this opportunity to serve an organization that I believe so strongly in, and that is poised to further help Northern Kentucky attractions, restaurants, hotels and convention and meeting facilities" said Mr. Summe.
"It isn't often that you find an individual like Eric – ready, willing and able to step up; he is a known quantity who can help the Bureau focus on its vision and further set the strategic direction for its future" added Ellison.
Mr. Summe was among a number of other candidates from across the country who were considered for the position and was the unanimous selection of the search committee and the board. Mr. Summe takes the helm immediately.
